Research Interests

Welcome!  My general research interest is in the field of large scale distributed systems and model driven development technologies. My current research focuses on two research topics on component-based software engineering for distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems: (1) empirical methods that systematically identify why conventional middleware deployment and configuration (D&C) platforms for component-based DRE systems exhibit poor productivity and quality of service (QoS) and (2) developing an expressive set of methodologies, frameworks and generative software development tools that address these problems.
I am currently affiliated with the Distributed Object Computing (DOC) group lead by Prof. Douglas C. Schmidt in the Institute for Software Integrated Systems at the Vanderbilt University.

As a team player in the DOC group, he has contributed to several open-source projects, including ACE+TAO, CIAO, DAnCE and CoSMIC. He is one of the core developers and maintainers for CIAO and DAnCE software. If you have any issues or comments, please feel free to post them to our mailing lists.

  R&D on component based CORBA middleware frameworks to provision, deploy and configure distributed applications:
  
  
  • Leading developer for the Deployment and Configuration (DAnCE) framework built atop ACE+TAO, which could simplify the provisioning and deployment of component-based distributed real-time systems in a networked environment.

  • Designed and developed Event QoS Framework (EQF), a runtime framework for CORBA Component Model (CCM) which configures and deploys QoS-enabled publish/subscribe services for distributed real-time and embedded applications.

  • Leading developer of a warehouse real-time Inventory Tracking System (ITS), which is a component-based, distributed system to track warehouse inventory and scheduling good item delivery in a real-time fashion.

  R&D on model-driven and aspect-oriented generative programming techniques for developing component based distributed systems:
  
  
  • Designed and developed Event QoS Aspect Language (EQAL), a model-based domain specific language for provisioning publish/subscribe services for component-based DRE applications.

  • Design and implementation contribution to the CoSMIC project.
